Various 2-3 concerns such as flares, slide shifts or slipping in third are common on GM 4T65-E transmissions installed in Volvo vehicles. These problems can often be traced to excess wear at the 2-3 accumulator valve and sleeve, which allows critical control pressure to exhaust.
Symptoms:
2-3 Shift concerns
3rd Clutch failure
3rd Slip
Low line rise
Cause:
2-3 accumulator valve/sleeve deterioration permits pressure loss that causes driveability concerns.
Correction:
Recover hydraulic control and renew 2-3 shift action by installing Sonnax 2-3 accumulator valve kit.
NOTE: For 4T65-E units installed in GM vehicles, use 2-3 accumulator valve kit 84754-53K.
